Passport Issue ‘2010’

Be Careful at the Airports,  This is a well organized conspiracy by Immigration, Police, Customs and Airline staff  with networking at all International  Airports in a couple of Countries including ‘Pakistan’ and ‘India’. Be careful when ever you give your  passport to Immigration/ Customs/Airline staff. The pass port can be easily tampered and  can create trouble to you. They have found easy  way of making money. This is the way  it works:

At the time of the passenger’s  departure, if the passenger is not looking at  the officer while he is stamping the exit, the  officer very cleverly tears away one of the page  from the passport. When the passenger leaves the  immigration counter, the case is reported on his  computer terminal with full details. Now all  over the country they have got full details of the  passenger with Red Flag flashing on the Passport  number entered by the departure immigration  officer. They have made their money by doing  above.

On arrival next time, he is  interrogated.

Subject to the passenger’s  period of stay abroad, his income and standing  etc., the price to get rid of the problem is  settled by the Police and Immigration people. If  someone argues, his future is spoiled because  there are always some innocent fellows who think  the honesty is the basis of getting justice.

Please advise every passenger  to be careful at the airports. Whenever they hand  over the passport to the counters of Airlines or immigration or the customs, they must be  vigilant, should not remove eyes from the  passport even if the officer in front tries to  divert their attention.

Similar case has happened with Mr Arifuddinin  from Saudi Aramco Company. He was travelling with his  family. They had six passports.

They got the  visa of America and decided to go via Jeddah. When they  reached the States, the page of the American  visa on his wife’s passport was missing. At the  time of departure from Pakistan it was there,  the whole family had to return helplessly. On arrival at Pakistan, they were  caught by the police and now it is over 2  months, they are running after the Police,  Immigration officers and the Courts. On going in  to details with him, he found out the following:  One cannot imagine, neither can believe, that  the Immigration dept can play such a  nasty game to harass the innocent  passengers.

All the airlines passengers must  be aware of this conspiracy. Every month 15 to  20 cases are taking place at all international airports, of holding the passengers in the crime  of tearing away the passport pages. On  interviewing some of them, none of them was  aware of what had happened. They don’t know why,  when and who tore away the page from the middle  of the passport. One can imagine the sufferings  of such people at the hands of the immigration,  police and the court procedures after  that. People who are arriving at the  immigration, they are questioned and their  passports are being held and they have to go in  interrogation., now the results are  coming. Some of the Airline counter staff too  is involved in this conspiracy.

Networking Mistakes Everyone Should Avoid

Maintaining and building a professional network is essential for any person who has been in the professional field for some time. Having a strong professional network can help you tremendously along the way as it gives you an edge over the other candidates in the same field as yours. When you have a strong professional network to depend on, you can be sure that whenever there is a job opening in the related field, you will get informed by the contacts from your network.

Applying to a job through your professional network improves your chances of getting the job as most of these jobs are not even advertised by the companies openly and the only way you get to know about these job openings is via internal contacts.

Who Should Be In Your Professional Network?

There is no hard and fast rule to decide who should be added to your professional network and who should be excluded. While it is commonly believed that the more people are in your professional network, the better it is for your career.

This approach is not necessarily right as it is more important to maintain the standard of your network by making sure that all the significant people who you have worked with are included in this group. Your old colleagues and superiors, who have worked with you closely in the past are definitely an asset to your network as they know your strengths and weaknesses and can better recommend you for a job opening.

Common Networking Mistakes To Be Avoided:

There are many common mistakes that can ruin the professional network and your chances of career advancement through this channel. Some of these mistakes are:

Delay:

The most common mistake is waiting too long to start networking. Many people start networking when they lose their jobs and are looking for another option. To be effective in professional networking one has to create contacts and relationships while you are working within an organization, not after you have left.

Vagueness:

Networking events play a very important role in making sure that you get in touch with the right contacts. However when you go there, you should know why you are participating and what you hope to gain from the experience. If some starts a conversation you need to know what to say and what you want to gain otherwise you might just end up losing a golden opportunity to establish contacts.

Unprofessional Email ID:

Establishing contacts and maintaining them is all dependant on using an Email ID. Using an email ID that is unprofessional and does not include your name can give the impression of a non-serious attitude. For instance, using “unemployed.mba@” as an email ID for professional networking is not a good idea. Instead use an email ID with your name for professional purposes.

Wasting other’s Time:

When you are talking to a person on phone or chatting online with a contact, do not engage in useless conversation and waste his valuable time. Be precise and to the point, as the other person will appreciate your brevity. Similarly do not stick to one contact for a long time at a networking event as people are there to meet as many people as they can within a limited time frame. So use this opportunity to mingle and strengthen your network.

Treating Contacts as Temporary Assets:

When you have successfully created a network for yourself, make sure that you maintain the contacts and interact with them occasionally. This will make them feel valued and they will be willing to help you in future endeavors as well. Never fail to send a thank you note when a contact has helped you out and always send replies to emails. Failing to reply to the emails and ignoring basic etiquettes such as sending a thank you note are not only in bad taste but also have a negative impact on your professional network.

Being untruthful:

Lying is the worst thing that can lead your entire professional network to crumble. If you lie to one person on your network, it will find its way throughout the group and sooner or later you will be exposed. Keep in mind, having a good reputation is essential in any professional field and once you ruin your reputation it will be very hard to make amends.

Bragging:

While it is understandable that you do not wish to appear naïve or a newbie but you need to understand the difference between a confident person and someone who is just bragging and showing off to impress others. You can mention your expertise and achievements when it is appropriate or when the other person asks you about your work and experience. Even then, you should have a brief answer prepared so that the other person can retain the useful information and pass it on when needed. If you start ranting about the things you have done, it is highly possible that by the time you stop talking, the other person might not remember a single word you have said.

Dressing poorly for an event:

If you are going to a networking event, make sure that you look professional and presentable. While it is not a formal event, many professionals consider this an important event towards future job opportunities. If you look like a person who is not even interested in dressing properly and shaving for a networking event, there is a high chance that you will be ignored by most of the employers. So it is up to you whether you take this opportunity or let it fall.

Being Passive:

The worst mistake ever in professional networking is having a passive approach towards maintain contacts and asking for job openings. By being inactive you are missing out on golden opportunities, as they will not be able to inform you of a job opening that might be perfect for you. Keep asking for job postings and take their advice on professional matter but make sure that you are proactive in approach rather than start nagging the other person.

Really United

WHERE TO TAP?

Ever heard the story of the giant ship engine that failed?

The ship’s owners tried one expert after another, but none of them could figure but how to fix the engine. Then they brought in an old man who had been fixing ships since he was a youngster. He carried a large bag of tools with him, and when he arrived, he immediately went to work. He  inspected the engine very carefully, top to bottom. Two of the ship’s owners were there, watching this man, hoping he would know what to do. After looking things over, the old man reached into his bag and pulled out a small hammer. He gently tapped something. Instantly, the engine lurched into life. He carefully put his hammer away. The engine was fixed! A week later, the owners received a bill from the old man for ten thousand dollars. ”What?!” the owners exclaimed. “He hardly did anything!” So they wrote the old man a note saying, “Please send us an itemized bill.”
The man sent a bill that read:
Tapping with a hammer …….. $              2.00
Knowing where to tap ………… $       9998.00
Effort is important, but knowing where to make an effort in your life makes all the difference.

USED vs LOVED

Things are to be used,
People are to be loved.

While a man was polishing his new car, his 4 yr old son picked up a stone and scratched lines on the side of the car.

In anger, the man took the child’s hand and hit it many times not realizing he was using a wrench.
At the hospital, the child lost all his fingers due to multiple fractures.

When the child saw his father…..
with painful eyes he asked, ‘Dad when will my fingers grow back?’
The man was so hurt and speechless; he went back to his car and kicked it a lot of times.

Devastated by his own actions…… sitting in front of that car he looked at the scratches;
the child had written’LOVE YOU DAD‘.

The next day that man committed suicide in regret. . .

Don’t Judge too Quick

One old man was sitting with his 25 years old son in the train.

Train is about to leave the station.
All passengers are settling down their seat.
As train started young man was filled with lot of joy and
curiosity.
He was sitting on the window side.
He went out one hand and feeling the passing air. He
shouted, “Papa see all trees are going behind”.
Old man smile and admired son feelings.
Beside the young man one couple was sitting and listing all
the conversion between father and son.
They were little awkward with the attitude of 25
years old man behaving like a small child.
Suddenly young man again shouted, “Papa see the pond
and animals. Clouds are moving with train”.
Couple was watching the young man in embarrassingly.
Now its start raining and some of water drops touches the
young man’s hand.
He filled with joy and he closed the eyes.
He shouted again,” Papa it’s raining, water is
touching me, see papa”.
Couple couldn’t help themselves and ask the old man.
“Why don’t you visit the Doctor and get treatment for your son.”
Old man said,
” Yes, We are coming from the hospital as Today
only my son got his eye sight for first time in his life”.

Moral “Don’t draw conclusions until you know all the facts”.
